About Us
GTU Ventures, formerly known as the GTU Innovation Council (GIC), is the flagship innovation and entrepreneurship platform (dedicated Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre ) of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), established in 2010 to drive a vibrant, multilayered ecosystem that supports ideation, innovation, and startup development across Gujarat. Deeply aligned with national innovation goals, GTU Ventures has become a prominent force in shaping India’s startup landscape.
GTU Ventures operates through an integrated framework of pioneering verticals, including the GTU Innovation and Startup Centre–TBI (DST-supported Technology Business Incubator), AIC-GISC Foundation (under AIM–NITI Aayog), Design Innovation Centre–DIC (supported by AICTE–MoE), IDEALAB (supported by AICTE), Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC), PG Diploma in IPR (PGDIPR), Community Innovation & Co-Creation Centre (CiC3), GTU Robotics Club (GRC) & Motorsports. Furthermore, Regional Innovation and Start-up Centers have been established at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Anand, and Mehsana.
Functions
Promotion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Foster a culture of innovation across affiliated colleges and research centres
- Encourage faculty, students, and alumni to pursue entrepreneurial ventures
Incubation and Startup Support
- Provide pre-incubation and incubation facilities for student innovators and startups
- Facilitate access to infrastructure, mentoring, prototyping facilities, and co-working spaces
Capacity Building and Ecosystem Development
- Organize workshops, training, bootcamps, and faculty orientation programs to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship capacity
- Build strong linkages with industry, investors, government agencies, and international partners
Facilitation of Government and Institutional Schemes
- Act as the nodal centre for implementation of innovation and startup support schemes such as SSIP 2.0, Startup Gujarat, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), Atal Innovation Mission, and other DST/DIC initiatives
- Ensure transparent processes for selection, monitoring, and support of beneficiary startups, as per GTU norms
Research, Intellectual Property and Commercialization
- Support patenting, technology transfer, and commercialization of innovative projects emerging from GTU’s ecosystem
- Promote applied research with societal and industrial impact
Governance and Compliance
- Operate in line with GTU’s regulations, ensuring accountability, periodic review, and reporting to University Authorities
- Maintain synergy with GTU’s Faculties, Boards of Studies, and affiliated institutions to integrate innovation and entrepreneurship in academic frameworks
